Do not confuse arrogance with self-confidence

Positive Minds | Positive Quotes | Edition 004

Let's talk about the difference between arrogance and self-confidence.

If you want to know the difference between arrogant and confident people, observe them in team meetings, workshops, seminars or major events.

Arrogant people are those who "know it all".

They constantly display their knowledge and expertise whenever they speak. They are self-centred and egocentric and always start their sentences with "I". They want to be the centre of the universe and do not hesitate to find loopholes in other people's thinking to build their own arguments. But you need to know that arrogant people are insecure people and need the validation of others to feel secure.

Confident people, on the other hand, know their self-worth.

They are masters at diffusing attention and never seek the attention and validation of others. They are their own best critics and constantly seek to learn from and share with others. They always give credit to others, especially their team members.

To sum up, and drawing on Adam Grant's book "Give and Take: Why Helping Others Drives Our Success", arrogant people are takers, and confident people are givers.
